About Quality Respite and Home Care, Inc.
Message from the President, Christine Shene, CNA/HHA
Quality Respite and Home Care, Inc. is a family-owned business. We have
been involved with the special needs community since 1974 when my brother
was born with a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. We have endured the many
obstacles and hurdles of everyday life that are familiar to most families
with a child/adult with special needs, so we know where you're coming from.
In 1981, we were introduced to the Special Olympics program when my brother
went to elementary school. After participating all throughout grade school
and graduating high school, we came to the realization that there was
nothing for him after high school. To me, that was not ok as I didn't
want my brother becoming a couch potato. From that idea, along with discussions
with his high school coach, we built our own Special Olympics team for
children with various disabilities graduating from the East Side Union
High School District. To me, it was important to keep them involved with
sports and being close to their friends. It was found to help with their
social and motor skills.
As you can see, we deeply understand the need for personalized respite
care for both children and adults with special needs. The help and the
relief that it brings for both parents and clients has proven to have
a great impact on the entire family's quality of life.
We are also a part of the Home Care Aide and the License Home Health Committees
within CAHSAH (California Association for Health Services at Home).
